A small, tranquil and pretty hill station at a distance of around 370km from national capital Delhi. It is located at 1800 meters from sea level.
Legend has it that the place derived its name from the folk story of Rani Padmini, it is said that Rani Padmini fell in love with this beautiful place and thus Raja Sudhardev gifted her a palace in this captivating land and therefore the name “Ranikhet” that transforms to “Queen’s Meadows”.
This place was also a hot favourite destination during the British Raj and the Britishers were in awe of this place.
The place is encompassed by the quaint snow draped Himalayan Peaks and wilderness of teak and deodar trees and boasts of a great golf course which is a major attraction for tourists around the globe.

How to reach Ranikhet ?
Ranikhet is situated at a distance of around 370Km from the National capital – Delhi; it can be reached via road, train or Air.
Road – Ranikhet is well connected to major cities via road network but the most reliable route is the one that is taken from Delhi, You can take NH9 route and reach Ranikhet. Buses from major cities go to this place as well.

Train – Ranikhet does not have a rail network, however you can get down at Kathgodam railway station which is at a distance of 43 Km. You can then take a taxi or a bus to reach Ranikhet.

Air - If you want to save time so take a flight to Dehradun Airport, the nearest airport which is located at a distance of around 151Km from Ranikhet . Get down here and take taxi to your destination.

What to do in Ranikhet ?
When in Ranikhet, you throw yourself in the vicinity of The Great Himalayas and exotic surroundings. In this picturesque location you dare not miss the zeal of playing golf at One of the highest golf course in Asia; Upat Golf Course. The lush green grounds and lively environment will make your day.
Apart from this you can go on a tour of Kumaoni villages and get a glimpse of Kumaoni tradition and culture. You can also head to Chaubatia Gardens and get your eyes a visual treat as you will get to witness rows of beautiful apple and apricot orchards.
For a spiritual experience, a visit to Haidakhan Temple and Jhula Devi Temple is a must.
